Fill In The Blank Friday

1.   People always tell me I look like  Winona Ryder or Sara Gilbert.  I actually haven't gotten that in a while, so it's kinda nice.  I don't think I look even remotely close to either one of them.

2.  Friends don't let friends  do stupid stuff without taking pictures!

3.  A sunny day is perfect for   going for a long walk and then hanging out in the backyard drinking beer with my love.

4.  My favorite accessory is my necklace from Jason. I don't really have accessories other than that.  I don't really count my jewelry for my piercings for some reason. They're just there.

5.  If I could afford it I would   move out of my parents house.

6.  The cure for boredom is  bug Jason, either in person or via text.  Poor guy. I get bored a lot.

7.  I am currently "in like" with  venti skinny caramel macchiatos. I want to just buy that stuff by the gallon.

Five Question Friday

1. Do you and your spouse go to bed at the same time?
Nope, probably because I'm not married.

2. A question for the ladies...What kind of facial hair do you like on your man?
Honestly, I like it all, but then I can't keep my hands off of it and I think it drives him crazy. He didn't shave the other day, and I got busted petting his face. Didn't even realize I was doing it.

3. What's the worst vacation you've ever taken?
I don't know. I haven't really taken a vacation. There was the first camping trip in my parent's toyhauler. That was a nightmare.  Many bottles of wine were consumed just so we could make it out alive. Six kids all under the age of 9 inside a 27 foot trailer. I think I'm traumatized.

4. What's the first-ever blog you followed?
It was my friend's, but I don't think she writes on it any more. I'm still friends with her though!

5. Do you enjoy amusement parks?
I enjoy the rides. I don't enjoy the crowds. I'm cranky most of the time. LOL

  1. Laurell K Hamilton. She writes to completely amazing series, vampires and fairies. Awesome stuff.
  2. Janet Evanovich. I have never laughed so hard while reading a book. The Stephanie Plum series is absolutely hysterical.
  3. Lisa Murphy. If you're not a child development major, you probably won't know who this lady is, but her philosophy on education is wonderful.
  4. Joanne Fluke. Mysteries and some awesome recipes in every book. What's better than food and a good mystery?
  5. Margaret Mitchell. Gone With The Wind, need I say more?
  6. Patricia Polacco.  She's a children's author and her stories are amazing.  All of them are based on events from her life. Thank You Mr. Falker will make you cry.
  7. J.A. Konrath. He writes the Jackie Daniels series. A man that writes a kick ass female heroine, awesome.
  8. Eric Carle. An great artist and writer. I love children's books. I buy them for myself. I love collecting them.

PINT - Not enough hours in the day edition

Only Parent Chronicles

Questions:

1.  Crunchy or smooth peanut butter?
Crunchy. I used to love smooth, but I have to say the added crunch is nice.

2.  What is your favorite color Rose?
The white ones with the red edges, or the yellow ones with the pink edges. Oops, was I supposed to pick just one?

3.  Do you remove your shoes when you walk into your home?
Nope. Most of the time I either keep them on or take them off in my room.

4.  What is your favorite season?
Summer. Theoretically I'll get to sleep in a little and won't have to hear much whining in the morning about getting up early.

5.  Approximately how many hours a day do you spend blogging?
Per day, maybe an hour. Probably less.

Getting to Know You Sunday!

*to play...just copy the questions..answer them..then come on back here and link up*

the q's.

1. have you ever gone to see a movie by yourself?
Yes I have. I think Titanic was the first movie I went to by myself. I used to go a lot when I wasn't working after I dropped the kids off at school.

2. would you rather go through a tornado or a hurricane?
Tornado. I have no idea why, but if I have to choose, that's it.

3. have you made summer vacation plans?
No, and there probably won't be any. Too much work and finishing up the last semester at school.

4. what's your favorite accessory?
My necklace. I'm not really all that into accessories.

5. have you ever been thrown a surprise party?
No, not yet any way.

6. are you friends with your neighbors?
My who? I guess that would be a no.

7. what's the last movie you saw in the theater?
The Lord of the Dance. 3D. It was actually pretty cool.

8 what's your favorite food network show?
Dinner Impossible. Chef Irvine is awesome.

Great Video!

Five Question Friday

1. Tube socks, calf socks, crew, ankle, none?
Well, that depends on what type of shoes I'm wearing and what I'm doing. If I'm walking or at the gym then I wear ankle socks. If I'm wearing boots, then I wear boot socks, and if I'm wearing tennis shoes then I wear crew socks. It's all about the socks.
2. Was your childs (children's) name a mutual decision or was it a debate? If you don't have children, do you plan on giving your spouse a say, or do you have a name you MUST have, regardless if your other half likes it or not?!
My son's name was picked out by the ex. At least the spelling was any way, I sorta had a little influence on the name. It's unique without being overly weird and his middle name is definitely not a common one. My daughter's name was mostly my decision. I wanted to name her after Scarlett O'Hara.  Her name was supposed to be Katherine Scarlett.  The ex didn't like that, he voted for Kendall as a middle name. Katherine Kendall? Really? Blech! What if she marries somebody who's last name starts with a K? Then her initials would be KKK. That's just wrong. So with a little help from the nurse we decided on Marie, which is both mine and my mom's middle name. So it's kinda cool that we all share the same middle name.

3. What is your favorite type of weather?
I'd say like the weather we're having right now where I live. Mid 80's with a nice breeze. Warm enough for shorts during the day, but cold enough for a sweatshirt at night. When did they start being called hoodies any way? What the hell is that?
4. If left to your own devices, what time would you wake up every day?
Sadly I would still probably wake up around 5:30 to 6am.  The only time I sleep any later is when Jason is here, then I might actually go crazy and sleep in until 7:30 or 8am.  I'm a morning person. Not a particularly perky one, but a morning person nonetheless.
5. Have you bought your cemetery plots yet?
Nope, and I probably won't either. I want to be cremated and have my ashes dumped in the ocean. Sounds lovely huh? I'll be dead and I don't want to be on somebody's mantle in a vase. That's just creepy.

The best mother's day present ever

I rarely write about work since I feel like I owe the families I work with their privacy.  You never know who might read something and figure out who it is you're talking about.  But this has something to do with one of the reasons I decided I want to become an Early Interventionist.  I was doing my student teaching hours for my Early Intervention Assistant certificate and at this particular program it was time for the children to be picked up.  I could hear the teachers talking about a surprise they had for one of the mothers.  All she wanted was to hear her son say "mom".  That's it.  Something mother's all over the world take for granted every day.  I myself had wished my kids would stop saying it. Some mom's never get to hear it.

So back to the story, the mom they were waiting for comes through the gate and a teacher brings her son outside to greet her.  His face lights up and he runs toward her shouting "mom! mom! mom!" I watched the mom drop to her knees tears in her eyes as her son repeated the one word she had longed to hear.  I thought to myself that if I could do that, for just one other person, then that would just be the most awesome thing ever.  That settled it for me. I knew what I was supposed to do. Help children find their voices and their families the joy of knowing that all the work and faith and love is worth one word, and so much more.

Now, one of the little girls I work with is in a similar situation.  Her older sister had language before she was a year old. So it's frustrating for mom, she just wants to hear her baby's voice.  For months we have been working to formulate a sounds, just to get this child to make eye contact and understand that her voice carries so much power.  A little over a week ago, I arrived for our session and mom met me at the door.  "She said mom!  I was talking to her and said mom, and she repeated me! She said mom!"  She couldn't stop smiling.  It was a little early for mother's day, but I'm sure she didn't mind.  Not only did her daughter find her voice, but she found it to say the word her mom had been waiting to hear.

Happy Mother's Day

Six Word Saturday

I don't wanna go to work!

Working Saturdays should be illegal.  Seriously.

5QF

1. Have you ever had roommates?
No. I have never actually lived by myself. I went from my parents to being married and then back to my parents. Sounds sad, but you can't miss what you've never had.

2. How many names do you/your children have? (i.e. Prince Charming William Phillip Arthur Louis John Jacob Jingleheimer-Schmidt)
Just the normal three I guess. First, middle, and last.  Their last names were almost hyphenated but with last names that are over 6 letters long, it would have taken somebody ten minutes to say their last name.
3. Did you watch the Royal Wedding?
Nope. Wasn't really interested.
4. What is the messiest room in your house?
The kid's rooms.  It's scary and I just try to avoid going in them.
5. What is your ideal mothers day?
Sleeping in, then going out for brunch, maybe a movie and then a nice dinner. Oh, and a massage somewhere in there too!

Friday Funny

I seriously just want to hang out at the Apple store and wait for somebody to start dancing.

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. What I love most about my home is       my pretty new blanket. Seriously. I haven't had new bedding in years, and I got to go and pick this one out all by myself and it's beautiful, and I love it.

2. I'm excited because,    I have less than three months of school left. Of course within six months I'll be starting my Master's program, but for right now, I'm almost done.

3. My preferred method for blowing off steam when I'm frustrated is     lately, crying. Usually it's drinking, so I'm not really sure that I'm all that much better off but it's not all that bad.

4. Currently I am craving   chocolate beer and pretzel m&ms. That sounds so good right now.

5. The thing I love most about my mom is     that no matter what kind of stupid stunt I pull, she loves me any way. I honestly don't think I could pick just one. She drives me nuts, but she's my mom, and she's awesome.

6. If I was going to write a book about my life, the title would be       "Down but not out" because I keep getting knocked on my ass, but I haven't given up yet.
7. If I were to eat one thing for the rest of eternity it would be       pizza. There's a lot you can do with pizza. I'd love to say cheesecake, but a day and a half in I would puke and die.

Trivia Twosday

I was told to do this by Rockin Mama, so I hope she's fuckin happy now. Lol

Trivia TWOsday

Q: What cuss word do you use the most?
All of them. I am an equal opportunity cusser. Lol, is that even a word? Seriously, I have a major potty mouth. I manage to behave myself at work and in public mostly, but at home I'll blister your ears. That being said, fuck is probably the heaviest in the rotation.

Q: Do you wish you could change something about your life?
Right now, yes.  I'd be done with school, have a full-time job, and a house with Jason.  I guess that sorta counts as three things, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Stormy Weather - Billie Holiday

Meet Me On Monday

Questions:

1. What is your favorite kind of muffin?

Definitely blueberry with strusel topping. I've always loved blueberry muffins.  We used to go to a cafe in Morro Bay and I would always get blueberry muffins for breakfast.

2. What was the first car you ever owned?
It was a 1995 Pontiac Sunbird. Ultimately, it was called the shit bird.  It actually had weeds growing in the floor board when my dad traded his air compressor for it.  While I loved having my freedom, I hated that car.

3. Which TV Show were you sad to see end?
Six Feet Under. I loved that show. It was so awesome.

4. What is your lucky number?
I'm going to say 2.  I have 2 kids, and both mine and Jason's birthdays are on the 2nd.

5. Pretzels or Potato Chips?
Potato chips. Unless we're talking chocolate covered pretzels, then give them to me! Yummy stuff.

Trying something new and avoiding homework!

the q's.

1. did you watch the royal wedding?
2. tea and crumpets or coffee and a scone?
3 who's cuter..prince william or prince harry?
4. can you speak in a english accent?
5. do you own a fancy hat?
6. would you rather live in a castle or an english cottage?
7. how old were you when prince charles and princess diana got married? were you even born?
8. have you found your prince?

  1. Nope. I wasn't going to wake up early to see it and I had to work that day. Plus, I was busy buying my truck.
  2. I think coffee and a scone, since I've never had a crumpet I don't think I should agree to eating one.
  3. If I have to chose, I'll say Harry. He looks like he'd be a trouble maker and probably fun.
  4. No. I don't think I do accents well.
  5. Ummmmm, I have a cowboy hat. Don't know how fancy it is though.
  6. English cottage.  Living in a castle probably isn't as cool as it sounds.
  7. I don't remember how old I was, but I was definitely around when it happened.
  8. Yes I do believe that I have! Now, if I can just keep from pissing him off too badly he might actually stick around.

Six Word Saturday

I feel like I'm last place.

I don't want to talk about it. I'm just going to sit here and breathe and wait until I get over it.  Sometimes I hate being a girl.

5QF

1. If you could buy any car, money not an option, what would it be?
I would buy a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 Fastback.  Electric blue.

2. What was your worst first date ever?
I was in high school. The guy took me to the movies just so he could stick his hand up my shirt.  He seriously thought buying movie tickets automatically earned him a shot at second base.  He was wrong.  Being left sitting in the movie theater by himself with a hand print on his face wrong.  Oh yeah. I slapped that boy into next week. My momma didn't raise no fool.

3. How old were you when you fell in love for the first time?
I was 18 and dumb as a box of rocks. Ugh, thank goodness for divorce.
4. When was the last time you reconciled your checkbook?
Yikes. I'm actually not sure. But I haven't been overdrawn in I don't know how long, so I must be doing okay.  Besides, I check my account online pretty often.
5. If you were going to fashion a "Wanted" Ad for a best friend, how would you word it?
Wow. I've been staring at the screen for 20 minutes and I've got nothing. The people that have ended up being my best friends all had something I didn't know I was looking for, that's what makes them so great.

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. I am looking forward to       getting my new truck! By this time tomorrow the POS Jeep will be history and I'll hopefully have a reliable truck again.

2. Something kind of embarassing that I still love anyway is    my Build A Bears. I'm such a dork, but I don't care.  The kids love them and it's fun. I think the reason I'm such a good teacher is that I still love to play with toys. Sometimes, I think I'm having more fun than the kids.

3. My favorite car is     1969 Mach 1 Mustang Fastback. Wow, it's almost like I answered that question today already.

4. If I could pick one type of weather to live with for the rest of my life it would be    kind of like the weather we've had lately, minus the wind.  Warm enough during the day for shorts and a t-shirt, but cool enough at night to need a sweatshirt.

5. My favorite thing to do after a bad/stressful day is     sit in the backyard and have a drink with my boyfriend or my parents.

6. This weekend       I will be going to a training for the Red Cross to learn how to set up emergency shelters and showing off my new truck!
7. If I were a color, I'd be       blue      because,       it's my favorite color. Isn't that a good enough reason?

Thursday Thirteen - Disney Movies

  1. The Little Mermaid. Favorie Disney movie ever.
  2. Darby O'Gill and the Little People.  I have loved this movie since I was a kid. They used to show it on tv every year.
  3. Mary Poppins.  I always wanted to jump into a chalk drawing.  That looks like fun.
  4. Alice in Wonderland.  Awesome movie.
  5. Cinderella. Where is my fairy godmother? I don't need a pumpkin turned into a coach, I need my jeep to be turned into a new truck.
  6. Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Another favorite from when I was little.  Who needs a truck when you have a magic bed?
  7. Snow White. I live with two of the dwarfs. Grumpy and Grumpier.  Lol
  8. Up. How amazing is that movie?
  9. Meet the Robinsons.  A very cute movie.  Great story.
  10. Lady and the Tramp. Makes me want a dog every time.
  11. Ratatouille.  Or as my daughter called it, Rat Patootie. LOL
  12. Sleeping Beauty. My daughter's favorite.
  13. Aladdin. Robin Williams is hilarious.
