Grin and bare it

My back that is. I just baked some chicken for dinner just by standing with my back to it. I didn't notice it at first because of the pain from my back, but my chest and knees are sunburned too. My chest is just slightly pink, but my knees hurt almost as much as my back. Aloe vera, lots and lots of aloe vera. I've taken to laying on my bed on my stomach with my shirt pulled up and the fan blowing on me. Luckily the kids think it's really neat to rub the aloe vera on my back. There's no way that I could reach it myself.

I actually got to go grocery shopping by myself today. Woohoo!! Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty, free at last!!!! I took my time and cruised through Costco and bought lots of delicious fruit. A whole flat of strawberries and some pineapple. Then I went on to WinCo and got a huge watermelon. I was going to save that for the 4th, but after setting it on the counter in the kitchen it rolled off the counter and split open. So I settled for cutting it in half and we'll save half for the 4th. It was so nice to shop without being harassed for toys, candy, and other stuff. I could actually think. Of course it's still hotter than the seventh ring of hell here and I almost completely dehydrated myself. I've never guzzled water like that before. I must have drank a whole liter in the car after leaving WinCo.

Tuesday we'll be going to a BBQ with our new teeball friends. The men are going to the park where the fireworks show will be early to stake out a spot and unload the barbeques. There will be live music and games for the kiddies, so hopefully we will have a nice 4th. We're new to this whole having friends as a couple thing. But we get along very well with them and all the kids play well together. Hopefully this will be the start of something new.

Dh got himself a new job. It's only half the distance away from our house than his old job is. Plus it's a substantial increase in pay and better benefits. He's really excited and pleased to be moving on.

Have a great weekend everyone. Happy 4th of July!!
